Public Relations refers to the management of communication or the exchange of information between an individual or an organization and the public. The opportunities provided by new media have led to an immense development in the world of Public relations (P.R.)
New media has made it very easy and convenient for an organization to communicate with its potential buyers. The organization can today communicate with its potential customer directly without any kind of noise in between. The uninterrupted communication and interactivity between organizations and its customers has led to customers having greater trust in the organization. Today because of new media customers can give their feedback to the organization about its service which enables the organization to build a long term relationship with the customers. The customers feel valued and the organization gets loyal customers. Thus new media has benefited the various organization and business houses to build a strong customer base by combining the technological innovations of new media and the well strategized public relation tools.
Public relations during crisis management plays a very very important role and new media can prove to  be of great help to an organization during any crisis. New media can help in doing the damage control in a quick manner where the organization can clear the doubts of the customers by interacting with them directly. Thus the world of Public relations and the world of new media when put to use in an intelligent way can create wonders.
On the other hand, today celebrities have the opportunity to directly interact with their fans because of twitter, which in turn gives them a loyal fan base and helps the business of their movies. Today the celebrities share first hand information about their lives with their fans which prevent unwanted rumors and confusion. Celebrities today are more aware of the wonders of new media and utilize it in a smart and meaningful way to interact with their fans and promote their movies as well. Social media sites and applications like facebook, twitter, instagram has allowed the celebrities, authors, singers to share any aspect of their life which they wish to share with their fans in a direct way.
Public relations( P.R.) has become a very important field in today’s world.  Today’s world believes in communication and interaction and new media exactly helps in doing that. In today’s times trailers of films are released online, films are reviewed online, books are reviewed online, food critics give their feedback online, and all this communication helps the customers to decide whose service they want to take and at the same time give the organizations an opportunity to better themselves through customer feedback.


New media helps the organizations and influential people to build a healthy relation with the public which is transparent and direct in nature. It provides every business an equal opportunity to interact with the potential customers.  Public relations (P.R.) is a two way interactive process and new media has made this very thing possible and convenient for both the organization or individuals and the public at the same time to have meaningful and constructive interaction.
